Project Africa: A prologue

One man’s quest to make the best playlist ever for the continent of Africa

Here is a quick prologue to my blog with a rundown of my playlist for my trip to Africa. It’s currently called “Project Africa." I will gladly take suggestions for another name. I kind of rushed that part.

“Africa” (Toto) – “I blessed the rains down in Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaafrica.”

“Diamonds from Sierra Leone” (Kanye West) – Kind of seemed like a no-brainer.

“Party Rock Anthem” (LMFAO) – I’m spending the better part of two days party rocking in various airports all over the world.

“Club Can’t Handle Me” (Flo Rida) – I like to remix it when I sing along and go with “Africa can’t even handle me right now.”

“Super Bass” (Nicki Minaj) – Keeps the plane bumpin’.

“Better with the Lights Off” (New Boyz/Chris Brown) – This songs just too catchy. I’m ashamed I’m this weak.

“Yeah 3x” (Chris Brown) – I figured if I was going to have two songs with Chis Brown I may as well have them back to back and get it out of the way.

“We Be Steady Mobbin’” (Lil Wayne/Gucci Mane) – This is my “get pumped” song. When you only sleep for 6 hours out of the last 48, you need a good get pumped song. Or two…

“I’m on One” (DJ Khaled?/Drake/Rick Ross/Lil Wayne) – Get pumped song No. 2.

“Dirty Dancer” (Enrique Iglesias/Usher/Lil Wayne) – I like to keep hip and know what the kids are listening to.

“Where Them Girls At” (Flo Rida/David Guetta/Nicki Minaj) – See above.

“Roll Up” (Wiz Khalifa) – Because no playlist is complete without some Wiz.

“Best Love Song” (T-Pain/Chris Brown) – I know, I know, I already have a Chris Brown dominated playlist. But no playlist is complete without some Pain.

“Any Way you Want It” (Journey) – The University of Washington likes a well-rounded student. I like a well-rounded playlist.

“Written in the Stars” (Tinie Tempah/Eric Turner) – This song does a fantastic job of transitioning from Journey to…

“Give me Everything” (Pitbull/Ne-Yo/et all) – I dare you to listen to this song and not bob your head. No, double dog dare you!

“This is All I Need” (My ipod says: “Rob (of One Chance)/Lil Wayne) – Only for Weezy’s verse. I don’t even know who “Rob (of One Chance)” is.

“Good Life” (OneRepublic) – Because I have a pretty good life.

"Animal" (Neon Tree) – Getting ready to end strong…

“Don’t Wanna Go Home” (Jason Derulo) – Don’t read too much into the name of the song. I’m still not sure if I like it or not, but I jam to the “Day-O” part way more than I’d like to admit. Plus it's good to end with a catchy, get pumped song that the kids are listening to.
